Located in the southern part of Karuizawa, Hotchi Ichiba is a wonderful place to visit when exploring the area.
The name is written as “発地市庭” in Japanese and pronounced “Hotchi Ichiba.”
This local market offers a wide variety of high-quality products from Karuizawa and the surrounding Shinshu region, including fresh vegetables, fruits, sweets, flowers, prepared foods, and local souvenirs.
Many visitors praise the fresh local produce, and some reviews mention that seasonal favorites such as corn can sell out quickly, especially during the busy summer season.
For me, of the best things about Hotchi Ichiba is not the shopping. The view of Mount Asama from the market is beautiful and gives you a wonderful feeling of being surrounded by the nature of Karuizawa.
The surrounding Hotchi area is also worth exploring. Unlike the busy central areas of Karuizawa, this part of town has peaceful rice fields and a quiet rural landscape. Walking through the area while looking at the mountains gives you a completely different impression of Karuizawa.
Karuizawa is famous for its elegant shops, restaurants, and resort atmosphere, but its beautiful countryside is another important part of its charm.
Fresh local produce, Mount Asama, rice fields, and peaceful rural scenery — Hotchi Ichiba is a wonderful place to experience this quieter side of Karuizawa.
軽井沢の南側、発地エリアにある「軽井沢発地市庭」。
「発地市庭」と書いて「ほっちいちば」と読みます。
ここは、軽井沢を訪れたらぜひ立ち寄ってほしい場所のひとつです。新鮮な野菜や果物をはじめ、スイーツ、お花、お惣菜、地元のお土産など、軽井沢ならではの質の良い商品がたくさん並んでいます。
口コミを見ても、地元で採れた新鮮な野菜や果物を購入できることを評価する声が多く、「軽井沢に来たら立ち寄る」という人も少なくありません。特に夏のとうもろこしなど、季節の人気商品は早い時間に売り切れることもあるようです。
私が発地市庭を訪れて好きなのは、買い物だけではありません。市庭から眺める浅間山もとても美しく、軽井沢らしい自然を感じることができます。
さらに周辺の発地エリアには、軽井沢の中心部とは少し違った、のどかな田んぼの風景が広がっています。山を眺めながら田園の中を歩くと、ゆっくりと時間が流れているように感じます。
おしゃれな軽井沢も素敵ですが、こうした自然と農業が身近にある風景も、軽井沢の大きな魅力です。
